Most of the plastic waste ending up in the worlds’ oceans comes from emerging and developing countries of the Global South. The efforts of politicians, companies, science and NGOs to achieve a functioning waste management system in these countries are correspondingly diverse. Therefore, the question arises: do all those different projects really help at all?
